They're the connections that last a lifetime. And, we have the pictures to prove it.

Several time a year, IU Theta Chi brothers gather again for games, activities, and fraternity. If you haven't attended an alumni event yet, we hope you'll join us at the next one.

In the meantime, you can see some of what you missed last year by reading below.

Homecoming 2008

This year our Homecoming Game was welcomed with high winds a brisk fall temperatures.  The Hoosiers were facing Northwestern in what turned out to be a very exciting game.  IU struggled the first half, but with a very strong second half, came back to win 21 to 19.  During the half time festivities, Alpha Iota Brother John Zike #610 was recognized as a 50 year I Man.

Basketball

Basketball Outing 2005

Looking for revenge from last year's game, the Hoosiers fought hard through a poor shooting afternoon to overcome the Boilers 55-52 in a double overtime thriller. Led by Kay Sandifer, the Theta Chi group...

The eleventh annual golf outing was held Saturday, August 2nd at the Golf Club of Indiana in Zionsville.  Once again we has a great turnout with over 70 Brothers participating.  The weather was gorgeous and the course was in excellent condition.  Once again we had Brothers from the last six decades “scrambling” for the right to wear the “honored sport jackets”..

OTHER EVENTS
We've heard about other alumni that gather for annual events. Please email the Webmaster at thetachi@alumni.indiana.edu with a brief description of the event, along with contact name and email address. We'll make sure to get the information on the Website to help promote your event. Here are a couple of examples:

Little 500 Alumni Races
A new tradition of holding alumni races was started in 2000 at the 50 th running of the Little 500. Alumni from each decade were grouped together for a 10-lap winner take all format. Over 100 alumni riders participated and really impressed undergraduate riders with their speed and track savvy. Theta Chi was well represented that first year. After such a successful start, race officials decided to hold th
ese same races every five years to give alumni a chance to come back and show their stuff.

The second set of alumni races took place on April 16 th 2005 and Theta Chi came away with some gold. Read the rest of the story and see photos from the race.

In April 2010, you will have another chance to come and show your stuff.  Start getting in shape now!!!  The alumni race will precede the undergraduate race and there will be an additional event at the DeVault Alumni Center following the activities at the track.  Past All Star rider Chuck Taylor lives in Bloomington and is the key contact for these events.  You can contact him at taylorbike@comcast.net.

JOLLY OX still going...

In 1974 a group of Alpha Iota's gathered at the Jolly OX restaurant on Keystone Avenue in Indianapolis on their way home from school the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving. Little did we know then that it would start a tradition that celebrated it's 30th gathering this year. Over the years the conversation has moved from our marriages to our children's marriages, but once we get through the first round of chicken wings, we might as well be back in the chapter house living room... A group of Brothers get together each year and ride the HILLY HUNDRED in Bloomington, IN and the surrounding area. It is a 50-mile ride on Saturday and Sunday, which typically attracts 5,000+ riders. There is food and entertainment throughout the ride. It is typically the first or second weekend in October when southern Indiana is particularly beautiful.
