6th Annual Outing Draws More than 60 Brothers

This year's golf outing was another unqualified success. This was our 6th consecutive outing and firmly established the last Saturday in July each year for the event. Chairman Tom Bertellotti got things organized early and over 60 golfers from the classes of 1955-1996 enjoyed one of the best weather day yet for the event. We played a four man scramble format and the competition was very stiff. The winning team of Terry Diskey, Bill Jonas, Tom Jonas, and Harry Fox took home first prize, earning the right to wear the green jackets and return next year to defend. Certificates for merchandise from the pro shop were presented for closest to the pin and longest drive. Although there was no official prize for the highest score, two teams fought all day for the honor and you know who you are!

The round of golf was followed by a barbecue dinner, which provided ample time to discuss the recent history of the undergraduate chapter, status of the chapter house, and the opportunity of restarting the Chapter in the future. The enthusiasm was so great, several Brothers stepped up to serve on the Golf committee, Homecoming committee, and House Maintenance committee. If you are interested in working with one of these groups or other committees as they get established, please contact Warren Hoffman (317-329-2847 or nanandwarn@aol.com).

The event raised over $1,200 for the Alpha Iota Educational Foundation. Special recognition goes to Brother Bob "Charles" Thorgren for sponsoring the refreshment cart and providing a special gift for all players. The Foundation continues to raise money in anticipation of the day when the chapter is reestablished.

Special thanks to Nancy Hoffman for helping with registration along with Rich Francisco and Jim McClusky for handling the refreshment cart.

Please mark July 31, 2004 on your calendars now for next years event and help get the word our by telling all those Brothers you stay in contact with. For early registration and information, contact Tom Bertellotti at thomasbert@ameritech.net.
